Here is an animated visualization that shows the growth of wikipedia articles in different languages over time. The visualization can be viewed in different speeds and span over about a 10 year time period (2001 - 2010). As the bubbles increase in size it shows how many new articles are being added in each respective language, with each bubble representing a different language.
