The 2011 "Optical illusion of the year"

"Silencing awareness of change by background motion"


Created by some people at Harvard. I don't know if this is a real award.


If you focus on the white dot your perception and awareness of color changes is greatly reduced when movement is involved.


Here is a youtube link so that you can see for yourselves. It's not great quality and it probably lowers the effect of the illusion, I looked at it a few times and could see how I would lose total perception of the color changes (after doing it in full screen) if the quality were better.
