THE G-VIS LAB

Today, great portion of experiments if not all, are performed by computers because the necessity of precision and sometimes repetitive activities that need automation. Computer simulations that are created in order to interpret the huge amounts of data derived from those experiments are becoming of paramount importance in Science. "Scientific Visualization of the numerical results" has become a powerful and necessary research tool that gives scientists the ability of interpreting large volumes of data in less time. NASA in the G-VIS Lab, provides scientists the tool that can handle that kind of data and is able to create custom visualization from images or sequence of images.

The interesting thing here is that virtual reality (3D) is also a powerful visualization tool that help scientist interpret data in different scenarios and configurations. Just like a pilot when training in a flight simulator, Scientists are exposed to a number of different scenarios in order to evaluate the model and comprehend better the data that otherwise would be extremely difficult to understand due to the amount of the collections of data.
