I found this visualization to be both powerful and fascinating because of the visceral way it commands the audiences attention. Rather then using color, shape, or other visual tricks to make sense of the data it instead uses metaphor. It presents a rather gruesome scene, fitting for the data which it is made from, with blood representing the lives lost in conflict over the past century. I found this to be a notably different visualization then any we have seen in class, and not just because of its serious subject matter, but because it is so different than the computer generated graphs and bubbles we have been seeing up to now. Seeing this visualization opened up a world of ideas to me on how representations of data can be created and displayed and I hope you guys find it interesting as well.
EDIT: the image didn't fit so I'll just put a link
