Hi everyone, I found this article "If San Francisco Crime were Elevation" very interesting in the way crime rate can be represented as elevations in 3D. Maybe this kind of visualization is very simple, but I believe the beauty is in the simplicity of the idea.
In addition, it is possible to make more interesting and complex visualizations that may display the same information, but one is at risk of making it very complex to understand or even focus on the main topic, that is why I found this specific visualization very attractive.

This might be improved slightly if different colors were used for different elevations as well, as it's ultimately a 2d picture.
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent way to depict different statistics in a given area. As Kalinka stated before, it would help if it was color coded.
