Twitter Users

If you ever wondered how many people actually use Twitter, here is a great way of seeing it in perspective. By shrinking the population size down to a reasonable number we can easily see the proportion of people who frequently use twitter vs. the people who just have accounts. I thought it was really interesting that just 5% of the people on Twitter create 75% of the posts. There are 10 times that many people who haven't tweeted in the last week. Easy to understand visualization.

  1. But then what are the grey people? Users, that don't produce much content and don't have a lot of followers? Or...? Seems confusing in that respect since that's who would be your core users -- wouldn't it? -- but they aren't labeled.

  2. I'm guessing the grey is an "everyone else category?" i.e. less than 100 followers, but has tweeted in the last week, make up the other 25% of all the tweets....
