Below is a popular image that has been thrown around the Internet for about a year or so showing the friendships of Facebook users from around the world using a sample data of 10 million users. It was created by Paul Butler at Facebook as an attractive visualization of Facebook and its impact on connecting the world together.
What is interesting to note from the image is how much of Asia does not use Facebook. Also most of Africa (for obvious reasons) does not use Facebook and South America, since the primary social networking site that is used in there (well, Brazil for the most part) is Google's Orkut.
