Classic Visualization

Source: http://www.ptable.com/

The website listed above shows a dynamic periodic table of elements. The periodic table of elements is a classic visualization that conveys a lot of information about each element such as what group it belongs to, whether it is a metal or nonmetal, atomic mass, etc. It conveys various information per element without distorting any information and it is easy to use. The dynamic periodic table goes further and allows you to click on the element you want and when you do click it, a pop-up with more in-depth information for that particular element such as its characteristics and so on. This is one classic example that is hard to top and is a great visualization and has been present for years. It is still used to this day in chemistry classes. The purpose is clear and the data can be used in many areas. It allows the user to think about the data being shown, rather than the methodology used behind it.
